GeoSyntec Consultants
Geoprobe Soil Sampling
Three, one or two-inch diameter Geoprobe sample locations are shown on the
attached Application for Permit. The maximum depth of the soil samples will not
exceed 15 ft below ground surface (bgs). Vironex will be the drilling contractor (C-57
License No. 705927).
The soil samples will be collected using a Geoprobe. The Geoprobe system
works by pushing either 1-in. or 2-in. diameter, hollow rods into the subsurface
collecting either 2-ft cores (for the 1-in. diameter rods) or 4-ft cores (for the 2-in.
diameter rods). The soil samples themselves are collected in plastic sleeves in the
Geoprobe rods. GeoSyntec Consultants (GeoSyntec) will provide oversight of the
Geoprobe operations. Soil samples will be logged for stratigraphic information.
Sampling equipment)a4 will be thoroughly cleaned before each use. Sample
tubes will be sealed with Teflon sheeting and plastics caps and placed in a chilled cooler
for transport to the analytical laboratory. Soil cuttings are not expected to be generated.
After reaching total depth in each boring, cement and bentonite grout consisting
of Type I/II Portland cement and approximately 3% to 5% bentonite will be tremmied
through the Geoprobe rods from the bottom to the ground surface in a continuous
motion. The county grout inspector will be notified of work at least 48 hours prior to
grouting.
WR0203\LOD\Work Plan 2
