SJRTD - FRACTURED DT- 2 FIBERGLASS PIPING IN DIESEL TRANSITION SUMP
PROBLEM : Diesel leak Inside the Diesel Transition Sump in the Filter Room
Diesel Tank #2 ( DT-2 ) Smith Fiberglass product line is FRACTURED and seeping from the top portion of the Smith
Fiberglass piping just forward of the penetration fitting on the inside of the Bravo Double Wall FRP Transition
Sump .
Note : A different style penetration fitting will be installed and although DT- 1 is currently up and running the
different style penetration fitting will also be installed on DT- 1 in an effort to preclude a possible fracture of DT4
that has been operating with the original style penetration fitting .
SCOPE OF WORK :
1 . Shut down DT-1 and DT-2 product lines and purge both lines of product .
2 . Demo approx 3' x 4' concrete in front of transition sump and expose DT- 1 and DT-2 piping.
3 . Remove approx 24" -36" of 4" DT- 1 & DT-2 secondary piping to expose 3" DT4 & DT- 2 product lines .
4 . Install test boots and purge DT- 1 & DT-2 product lines with Helium@ 50 psi test pressure .
5 . Test secondary of both systems from excavation point to STP sump for presence of Helium . NOTE : If
Helium is detected , meaning that one or both primary lines may be leaking into the secondary, then work
will commence to determine where the leak is located and an additional scope of work will be produced
and added to this permit . If no Helium is detected repairs will be made to both DT- 1 & DT-2 product lines .
6 . Working inside and outside of the sump disconnect 3" Flex Connectors from 3" product lines and remove
4" Smith entry fittings and approx 24" of 3" product line from both systems in front of sump .
7 . Replace 4" Smith Entry Fitting with different style fitting. .
8 . Replace removed section of 3 " product line and reconnect to Flex Connector.
9 . Replace 4" secondary with Clamshell fitting.
10 . Test primary and secondary piping of both DT4 and DT-2 systems
11 . Backfill and replace concrete .
i
i
i
