In the past, kitty litter and the hazardous waste drum were the norm. The ECS Program provides both a solution (FM186-2) and the equipment to make the spill clean up process much easier, safer and less expensive! When the ECS Spill Response Program first hit the marketplace, we found that there was little compliance with regulations. Operators were washing pads and parking lots and the resulting hydrocarbon loaded water ran directly into storm drains (by law, nothing is allowed in storm drains). Spills of gasoline and diesel were either not cleaned up or if they were, the clean up materials were thrown directly into the trash. Training on proper procedures for cleaning spills was almost non-existent. Today both the Regulatory Community and many companies are implementing programs to reduce non -point source pollution - our nation's greatest pollution problem.
