environmental
chemical solutions
INTRODUCTORY LETTER
We would like to welcome you as a new member of the ECS Family. By using the FM186-2 Spill Response
Program, you are demonstrating concern for the health and safety of your employees and protection of the
environment. We look forward to working closely with you and members of your team in fighting non -point
source pollution.
Benefits from using the FM186-2 Spill Response Program include:
• A reduction in long term potential liability
• Improved health and safety for employees
• Cleaner facilities
• A simplified spill clean up program
• Reduced danger of fire and explosion
• A lower cost of waste disposal
• The most environmentally correct methods available
• Regular calls from our specially trained support staff to insure that your needs
are addressed in a timely fashion
Current regulations require that each fuel handling facility must have a method of cleaning up spills. In the
past, kitty litter and the hazardous waste drum were the norm. The ECS Program provides both a solution
(FM186-2) and the equipment to make the spill clean up process much easier, safer and less expensive! This
Program Manual spells out the details for your employees.
Regular training is key to a successful program. Eliminating hazardous waste is serious business. This
Program Manual and our extensive web site help illustrate and explain in detail how the Program works. In
addition, we will help you custom design both a training program and a certification process to insure adequate
training of your team.
When the ECS Spill Response Program first hit the marketplace, we found that there was little compliance with
regulations. Operators were washing pads and parking lots and the resulting hydrocarbon loaded water ran
directly into storm drains (by law, nothing is allowed in storm drains). Spills of gasoline and diesel were
either not cleaned up or if they were, the clean up materials were thrown directly into the trash. Training on
proper procedures for cleaning spills was almost non-existent.
Today both the Regulatory Community and many companies are implementing programs to reduce non -point
source pollution - our nation's greatest pollution problem. We at ECS, appreciate and support the efforts of the
many individuals and active organizations that are working hard to improve environmental compliance. Please
contact ECS at 1-877-253-2665 if you have any questions regarding this program.
Sincerely,
Ed Grubbs, President
