Observed a bead blaster at the facility, but <br /> according to Mr. Lopez the machine is not being used. Discussed storage time, training, hazardous waste <br /> labeling, empty containers, hazardous waste determination on metal fines and closed containers. <br /> Provided: Return to Compliance Certification form, modified contingency plan, hazardous waste labels and <br /> labeling requirements, small business hazardous waste disposal program pamphlet, and a list of free CUPA <br /> courses. <br /> Waste Streams: used oil, antifreeze, drained used oil filters, metal fines <br /> Reviewed Documents: One disposal record for drained used oil filters <br /> The following are not violations: <br /> #103- No modified contingency plan <br /> An emergency coordinator and modified contingency plan information is lacking. There must be at least one <br /> emergency coordinator on site or on call to coordinate emergency response measures, and the following <br /> information must be posted by a phone: the name and phone number of the emergency coordinator; location of <br /> fire extinguishers, spill control equipment, and if present, fire alarm; and the phone number of the fire department <br /> unless the facility has a direct alarm. Immediately appoint an emergency coordinator and post the required <br /> information by a phone. A form is provided that can be used for this purpose. This was corrected on site. <br /> #403-Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous waste <br /> Observed a 30-gallon drum of used antifreeze and a 55-gallon drum of used oil stored open. All hazardous waste <br /> containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these <br /> containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. This was <br /> corrected on site. <br /> #406-Contaminated container not marked with date emptied or managed within one year of being emptied <br /> Observed a 55-gallon drum inside the shop and a 55-gallon drum outside that both previously held used oil <br /> without the date they became emptied. Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous <br /> material shall be marked with the date they were emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. <br /> Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this section.
