As you recall the subject
matter was that of the soil that was excavated during the re -location of the Tosco Pipeline.
During the conversation I indicated that the excavated soil would need to be sampled and
disposed of. I also indicated that the soil could not be used for backfill. I asked that you supply
the Environmental Health Division with a simple sampling plan.
The sampling plan needs to include the following:
1. The Laboratory that you intend to use.
2. The sampler if different than the lab.
3. The estimated volume of soil.
4. The number of samples to be taken
5. The type of analysis to be conducted by the lab (for example CAM 17 metals, TPHG & D,
BETX).
I have provided a list of Laboratories that should be qualified to conduct the analysis. You should
call and confirm that they are State Certified to conduct the analysis.
If you have any questions in regards to this matter please contact me at (209) 468-0332.
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
J
Robert McClellon, Lead Senior RENS
Environmental Health Division
Enclosures;
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
