CORAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL LEG MIGRATION MONITORING
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road approximately five miles
south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting
waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas
monitoring wells was installed by SCS Engineers (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on October 18, 2001. The County used the Landtec
GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitoring Instrument which was calibrated by County staff prior to
the sampling event. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide,
oxygen, and nitrogen(balance gas) concentrations.
Date: 10/18/01
Sampler: Dan Johnson
Probe Code CH CO2 02 Balance Pressure
Shallow 3 3.8 11.7 81.5 0
CH1 Intermediate 4.4 30.7 0.3 64.6 0
Deep 0 8.3 5.9 85.8 0
Shallow 0 7 9.5 83.5 0.1
CH2 Intermediate 0.2 18.3 6.6 74.9 0.2
Deeg 14.8 31.8 0.1 53.3 0.2
Shallow 0 7.1 1.5 91.4 0
CH3 Intermediate 0.6 33 0 66.4 0.1
Deee 5.6 19.3 6.2 68.9 0.2
Shallow 0 0 18.3 81.7 0
CH4 Intermediate 0 0 18.4 81.6 0
,Deep 0 0 18.8 81.2 0
Shallow 0 2.3 17.3 80.4 0
CH5 Intermediate 0 4.6 15.7 79.7 0
Dee 0 4.2 15.7 80.1 0
Shallow 0 2.8 16.4 80.8 0
CH6 Intermediate 7 17 0.2 75.8 0
Deee 37.8 44 0.1 18.1 0
CH7 Shallow 0 0.5 18.1 81.4 0
Intermediate 0 6.6 1.9 91.5 0
2
