After <br /> reviewing your letter and the accompanying documentation, DTSC has made the <br /> following determinations: <br /> Based on your statements, Lodi Chrome has adequately addressed spilled chemicals <br /> on the plating room floor by removing the spilled chemicals from the plating room <br /> floor and placing them in adequate containers, and no further action is required <br /> regarding violation 1 in section 1 of the Summary of Violations (SOV) issued on <br /> December 22, 2003 at this time. Hazardous chemicals spilled on the floor are <br /> hazardous wastes. In the future, spilled hazardous chemicals must be cleaned up <br /> promptly and placed in suitable tanks or containers until they are transferred to a <br /> permitted offsite facility for treatment, storage, or disposal. Spilled hazardous chemicals <br /> must not be allowed to remain on the plating room; especially since the floor in the <br /> plating area at Lodi Chrome is not sealed or coated to prevent vertical migration of the <br /> spilled chemicals into the concrete. <br /> Laboratory analysis of polishing dust waste generated by Lodi Chrome shows that the <br /> polishing dust waste is hazardous because it contains metal in "fine powder" form, <br /> including chrome, copper, lead, nickel, and zinc, at or above their respective regulatory <br /> limits. <br /> ® Printed on Recycled Paper <br />
