Inspection Report
8/
Photograph 3-Another view
of plating area from
office/storage area looking
into plating area. Note
discoloration on the sides of
+ p'•` plating tanks, containers,
and on the floor(arrows)due
k, I ' to spilled plating bath
chemicals.
s
We entered the plating area. I observed a "boardwalk" between the plating tanks. This boardwalk is
supposed to avert a hazard by preventing workers from walking through spilled plating bath solution.
However, a considerable amount of crystallized chemicals from plating solutions were accumulated
on the boardwalk. This presents a potentially hazardous situation for workers that must walk through
the chemicals in order to access the plating process tanks. I also observed a significant quanitity of
crystallized chemicals accumulated on the concrete floor under the plating tanks. The following
photographs show spilled chemicals on the boardwalk and on the concrete floor under the boardwalk
and the plating tanks:
Photograph 4-The
wood boardwalk
between plating
tanks. Note the wet
spots on the wood
Y and the crystallized
plating chemicals
r ' ' K µ '" (see arrows).
r 1
y
5
