CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL LFG MIGRATION MONITORING
Landfill Location
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road, approximately five miles
south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting
waste in May 1995.
Monitoring System and Equipment
In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas monitoring wells was
installed in 1995 (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on December 6, 2002, by SCS Field Services. SCS
used a Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitoring Instrument which was calibrated prior to
sampling. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and
nitrogen(balance gas) concentrations.
Results
The landfill gas monitoring results from the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill indicates that no
combustible gas in excess of the regulatory limit is present at 19 of the 20 monitoring probes
(Table 1).
Probe GW-6-deep contained levels of combustible gas which exceed the regulatory limit during
this monitoring period. However, combustible gas concentrations at GW-6-deep shows
continuing decreases over the last year(Figure 3). Although measurements taken on
October 3, 2002, found the combustible gas concentrations at this probe to be 0.8%, readings
taken on the date of this quarterly monitoring event show that the concentration of combustible
gas present at this location is 14.7%.
Corral Hollow Landfill October 1,2002
San Joaquin County 2 Quarterly LFG Monitoring
