Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
SUBJECT: LANDFILL GAS MONITORING AT THE CORRAL HOLLOW
SANITARY LANDFILL
Thank you for calling our attention to the possibility of obstructions at perimeter landfill gas
(LFG) monitoring wells GW-1 and GW-6 at the Corral Hollow Landfill. After asking our
contractor(SCS Field Services) to clear any obstructions, we investigated the probes of those
wells to evaluate their utility, as you suggested.
These tests indicate that, although some of the probes seem to have better communication with
the subsurface than others, all probes are satisfactory for measuring subsurface combustible gas
(report attached), and can be used as compliance points in the monitoring for subsurface LFG
migration.
This letter supercedes the letter dated July 23, 2003, in which the Harney Lane Landfill was
referenced.
If you have any questions, please contact me at extension 8-3066.
MC:sc
WlCorrall Hollow\Gas Monitoring\RMcClellonOl-ProbeCheck.doc
Attachment
c: Ms. Kim Schwab
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, California 95827
LA 21847
