•
THE SCOTTS COMPANY & SUBSIDIARIES
• InterOffice Memo
To: Chris Middleton, Tony Chavez, Wayne Brundrett, David Valenzuela,
Sierry Wilheim, Manuel Ramirez, Dean Hollingsworth and Patrick
Kennedy
cc: Scott Baker, Vicki Pelucca
From: Marcy Rubino
Date: April 7, 2000
Subject: Fire Inspection
As you all know, we had a scheduled Fire Inspection with the Linden
Fire Department. We did do some preparation for the inspection and with all your
help, we have passed the inspection with only one minor report. That consisted of
one pallet of empty packaging partially obstructing the south end door of the
Quonset Hut. I think that is very good considering previous inspections.
• Having Fire Hoses on the property a select few will need to be trained
to use the hoses. In addition, these hoses have to be tested by an outside agency
once a year. This is a regulation. The Fire Dept will help with any training
necessary. How ever, they do prefer us here at the plant not to use them for safety
and accountability reasons. They want to know where everyone is and that
everyone is safe when they come in to fight a fire.
Reminder* At all times the Fire Department requires:
All buildings have 5-ft clearance around the building. They need to be able to
move freely around buildings.
All combustible product needs to be 50 ft from Diesel and Propane.
Front of water tanks need to be an open area for Fire Dept access.
Walk ways leading to exit doors free from obstructions.
Maintain 20-ft wide access to within 150 ft of all buildings
Flammable material needs to be in fireproof closet (located in weld and truck
shops).
Fire hose areas free from obstructions.
1 want to thank everyone for their extra effort in completing all projects
Marcy Rubino,
