I.:
DISCUSSION OF IMPACTS
3 . Plant/Animal Life
A survey of the Natural Diversity Data Base notes that in 1984
bore holes were seen in Valley Elderberry bushes along the
Calaveras river near Bellota and Linden, indicating the
possible presence of the Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetle.
However, this site is not along a river and it is unlikely
that this project will impact the beetle.
5. Noise
This project will generate a substantial amount of noise,
however, the noise level off-site is not likely to be
significantly impacted. A survey of the County land use maps
indicates that there are no residences within 1, 000 feet.
7 . Hazards
The Department of Public Health Services notes that this site
is identified as a Hazardous Materials site due to a leaking
underground tank. Public Health Services will review the
status of the tank as it pertains to this application. There
is not substantial evidence to indicate that this project
might affect the status of that tank.
9. Traffic
The applicant expects to process a maximum of 75, 000 tons of
compost per year. The applicant expects to generate a maximum
of 65 truck trips per week and a maximum of 10 truck trips per
hour for the proposed composting project. These figures do
not include the existing operation.
Initial Study (Rev: 01/91)
9
