Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: PROPOSED REGIONAL COMPOSTING FACILITY
O. M. SCOTT & SONS COMPANY
Dear Mr. Padilla:
On February 16, 1994, the San Joaquin County Integrated Waste Management Task
Force reviewed the Regional Compost Facility proposed by 0. M. Scott & Sons
Company (Scott) to be located at its facility on Flood Road, southeast of the
Town of Linden, in accordance with Section 50000, Division 31, of the Public
Resources Code.
It is the understanding of the Task Force that the proposed facility will be
capable of handling from 30,000 to 75,000 tons of green waste annually and will
process waste delivered by municipal and commercial haulers. Waste will not be
received from the general public. Compost produced will be packaged and marketed
under the Scott brand along with its other products.
It is the intent of Scott to provide composting services to jurisdictions within
and outside of San Joaquin County. Consequently, the facility will be available
to help San Joaquin County Jurisdictions meet their waste diversion goals.
However, the facility will not be dependent on San Joaquin County Jurisdictions.
Based on the above understanding, the Task Force has concluded that the proposed
project is consistent with the goals and policies established by the Task Force
for San Joaquin County integrated waste management.
Any questions should be directed to Tom Horton, San Joaquin County Integrated
Waste Manager, at 468-3066.
Sincerely,
Loralee McGaughey, Chair
San Joaquin County Integrated
Waste Management Task Force
LM:TH:vj
RATOM=ERS\SCOTTS.LM
c: David Baker, County Administrator
San Joaquin County City Managers
0.
