The following is an itemized list of hazardous waste violations that have not been <br /> addressed for SMART TECH DIESEL REPAIR as of December 08, 2020. <br /> Open violations from October 15, 2020 inspection <br /> Violation#301 -Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: In the hazardous waste storage area, one blue 55 gallon steel drum containing paper oil filters <br /> was overfilled and could not be shut. <br /> In the shop, one blue 55 gallon steel drum containing paper oil filters was overfilled and a paper filter had fallen onto <br /> the ground. The paper filter was picked up during the inspection. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the <br /> possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous <br /> waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately store the waste in proper containers to ensure waste will not spill over onto <br /> the floor. Manage the waste according to Title 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste. Submit a <br /> statement and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department describing <br /> the storage and final disposition of the cleaned up waste. <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Violation#403-Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing <br /> hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: The following open hazardous waste storage containers were observed on-site: <br /> In the hazardous waste storage area: <br /> -One blue and one black 55 gallon steel drum containing paper oil filters were missing lids <br /> -One plastic 275 gallon tote containing used antifreeze was missing a lid <br /> In the shop: <br /> -One blue 55 gallon steel drum containing paper oil filters was missing a lid <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A container holding hazardous waste shall always be closed during transfer and <br /> storage, except when it is necessary to add or remove waste. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed <br /> when not adding or removing waste. Provide a corrective action statement and supporting documentation to the <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 30 days. <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Page 8 of 14 <br />
