Disposal Methods) <br />Hazardous Waste <br />Hazardous waste must be off site within 180 days (6 months) from initial accumulation. Accumulation time <br />does not reset when additional waste is introduced. <br />1. Review the product Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to determine the waste hazard class <br />2. Fill out the Hazardous Waste Label <br />a. Name, Address, City, State, Zip <br />b. Accumulation start date (mm/dd/yyyy) <br />c. Physical State (Solid in most cases) <br />d. Hazardous Properties <br />3. Place product in the appropriate container (Flammable/Ignitable, Reactive, Toxic, Corrosive) <br />a. Ensure the product is not leaking; if product is leaking place in zip -lock bag prior to placing in <br />disposal container <br />4. Fill out the New Waste Inventory Log <br />Universal Waste <br />Universal waste may accumulate for up to one year. Accumulation time does not reset when additional <br />waste is introduced. <br />1. Place universal waste in the appropriate container <br />a. Waste fluorescent bulbs are placed in the cardboard box to await disposal <br />b. Waste batteries are placed in the universal waste container in the waste station <br />2. Fill out the Universal Waste Label <br />a. Contents (Used Batteries OR Used Bulbs) <br />b. Accumulation start date <br />c. Address <br />d. City, State, Zip <br />3. Fill out the New Waste Inventory Log <br />Hazardous and Universal Waste Label Examples <br />
