Use Data dated February 20, 2019 (Plates 8 and 9). According to the nitrate map, four
wells within a half-mile radius of the subject Site have been tested for nitrate; nitrate
was detected in three of these wells at concentrations between 0.1 and 5.0 mg/L-N, and
in one well at a concentration between 5.0 and 10.0 mg/L-N. According to the DBCP
map, eight wells within a one-mile radius of the Site have been tested for DBCP; no
DBCP was detected in seven of the wells, and it was detected in the eighth well at a
concentration between 0.01 and 0.2 ug/L.
The Site is located approximately 240 feet from the Asghar Texaco, a closed leaking
underground storage tank case, and approximately 480 feet from the Lodi Airport, a
leaking underground storage tank case that is eligible for closure, according to the State
Water Resources Control Board's GeoTracker website.
On-Site Wells
A domestic well is currently located on the Site.
One well permit was identified for the Site from among the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department permit files. The permit, dated November 2018, was
for the construction of the 275-foot deep well. The attached soil log indicated the soil
strata included hardpan, silty/sand mixtures, and clay. The permit has been attached to
this report.
Water Sample
No water sample was collected for this investigation.
Sources of Nitrate to Groundwater
Off-Site Sources of Nitrate
Many sources can contribute to ground water nitrate contamination, including
agricultural activities, dairies and cattle ranches, septic systems, and storm water
infiltration.
Dairies, septic systems, and orchards that require fertilization in sandy soils have been
found to be the most significant sources of nitrate contamination in San Joaquin County.
The vicinity of the Site consists of agricultural land, rural residences, and a few highway
businesses. The Lodi Airport is located approximately 480 feet south of the Site. A
mobile home park is located approximately 630 feet east of the Site.
Based on the local well test results discussed above, it does not appear that nitrate
contamination is a problem in the area.
LOGE 20-32 Page 4
