CONCLUSIONS
Based on the method and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading
estimate indicates that proposed development on the Site has the potential to cause a
buildup of nitrates in the aquifer up to 4.0 mg/L-N, well below the MCL of 10 mg/L-N.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is estimated to range from 85
to 95 feet below ground surface, depending on the season. The ground-water flow is to
the northeast at a rate of approximately eight feet per mile.
No water sample was collected as part of this investigation. The San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department's map of previous well testing in the area indicates
that nitrate levels in nearby wells are below the regulatory threshold.
Based on the result of the nitrate loading calculation, no nitrate mitigation is
recommended for the new septic system.
LOGE 20-32 Page 10
