Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study Irerracon
Shipherd Property Ripon, California
August 25, 2020 Terracon Project No. NA207060
1.5.1 Soil Boring Locations
Based on a review of the site plan, the proposed leach field may be located north of the proposed
modular home. Two percolation test borings B1 and B2 were advanced in the vicinity of the
proposed leach fields. A soil profile (B3) was advanced near boring B1. Refer to Appendix A,
Exhibit 2 for the approximate boring locations. Refer to Table 5 below for boring GPS coordinates.
1.5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
Soil borings were advanced with a 4-inch diameter hand auger. Boring B1 and B2 were advanced
to 3.5 feet bgs and boring B3 was advanced 5.2 feet bgs.
1.5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
The following table presents a log of the soil boring(s).
Table 5.
Summary of Soil Lithology
Boring Depth Interval Soil Type Unified Soil Latitude Longitude
(ft) Classification
61 0-3.5 Silty Sand SM 37.74754 -121.10722
B2 0-3.5 Silty Sand SM 37.74785 -121.10721
B3 0-5.2 Silty Sand SM 37.74756 -121.10724
Terracon attempted to hand auger a ten foot soil profile; however, soils continued to drop out of
the auger before being pulled up to the surface; therefore, Terracon terminated the boring at 5.2
feet bgs.
1.5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
The soils encountered in our percolation test boring and soil profile consisted primarily of silty
sands. Generally speaking, coarse-grained soil has a greater potential for percolation than fine-
grained or cemented soil.
Terracon searched the DWR online Well Completion Records for additional information regarding
soil lithology near the site. A well completion report was not available for the site address. One
well record was available for the adjacent eastern address 16401 Milgeo was identified; however,
a copy of the record was not available. The well was reported as 250 feet deep and static water
level was reported at 51 feet bgs.
The DWR website, identified a boring log prepared by Advanced GeoEnviron mental, Inc. dated
2002. The boring was located at 850 Milgeo Road, approximately 2,000 feet west of the site.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 9
