08/02/2006 09:14 FAX IM002
August l,2006
Mr. Frank Girardi
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Son Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 E.Weber Avenue,Third Floor
Stockton CA 95202-2708
RE: Asphalt Repair at Transfer Station;Central Valley Waste Services; 1333 East Turner
Road, Lodi,CA. SWIS 39-AA-0017
Dear Mr.Girardi:
Central Valley Waste Services(CVWS)submits this letter in response to your request for
information on the repair of the asphalt surftice at the transfer station and the potential!impacts on
traffic and waste acceptance. The preliminary schedule for the repair activities received from the
contractor indicates the work will be conducted during the period of August 3—11,2006.
In regard to impacts on traffic and waste acceptance,G has already cordoned off the
primary area to be repaired with K-calls_ This has moved the public Upping area approximately
20-30 feet east as illustrated in the enclosed figure.. This change has beenmade to avoid any
further deterioration of the damaged asphalt as w*1 as restrict the area Involved in the upcoming
construction activities.
In concert with moving the public tipping area, the equipment operator at the transfer station has
increased the frequency of pushing waste from the public area into the transfer station to avoid
any further eastward migration of tipping activities. The waste is now pushW around the east
side of the wall separating the transfer station from the public Upping area rather than through the
opening in the wall. SaWe house and operations personnel have monitored the b-affic and waste
acceptance activities since this change and have not noted the creation of any significant
hazards. The monitoring of the traffic and waste acceptance activities will continue through the
completion of the asphalt repair prof
Centnil Valley Waste S.ervIcw would be happy to discuss this project with you further at your
convenience. Please contact the undersigned at(916)202-7134 or Mike Abood at(209)333-
5817 to discuss any further action roquired on this issue.
