INTRODUCTION
This report issues my investigative findings regarding the Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading
Studies conducted for the project referenced on the Title Page. These Studies were required
because of regulations enacted by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(EHD)to determine if nitrate loading standards would be exceeded when improvements are
proposed for a subject Parcel less than one acre in area.
SSS§ 1.1, 1.2. Ms. Ana Resendiz is proposing to construct a single family residential structure as a
primary dwelling on the subject Parcel she owns. Her mother resides next door to the north. Ms.
Resendiz's home is proposed to be four bedrooms, three baths. There is no area for a future second
unit dwelling. A defunct domestic water well is located at the west end of the property. A new well
is proposed to be drilled, near this same location.
SSS§ 1.3. The property is 0.74 acres as illustrated on the Assessors Parcel and District Viewer
Maps and is surrounded by orchards and rural residential structures. The Bob Allen, Inc., Landscape
and Building Materials Supplier is directly across Beyer Lane from the subject property.
Within the text of this Report, Bolded Section (§)numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph(s), or Appendices that correspond with the EHD Requirements Checklist.
Section Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for the Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are sections applicable for the
Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of text may also apply to other
sections of the Checklists, but may not necessarily be referenced.
The following summarizes the investigative parameters included to complete this report:
• Percolation tests were performed for this study in the proposed location of the future filter
bed/seepage pit disposal field. Test results indicate permeable soil in the shallow depths,
decreasing to impermeable soil at the medium depths and permeable soil at the deeper
depths.
• Soil chemical testing was conducted on samples retrieved from the percolation test
borings. Physical testing of the soil sample included texture particle size analysis for sand,
silt and clay content, and chemical testing analyses for the constituents that influence
nitrate loading.
• The nitrate loading to the on-site soils in combination with nitrate impact potential to the
underlying groundwater from percolating effluent was calculated to be under the
Maximum Contaminant Level. Natural nitrate impact mitigation measures have been
described in this report.
• Design and operational parameters of the proposed onsite wastewater treatment system
(OWTS)to serve the new residence are included in this report.
Page -1-
Chesney Consulting
