Ted Tasiopoulos [EH]
From: Ted Tasiopoulos [EH]
Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 12:26 PM
To: 'gyekta@ciwmb.ca.gov'
Subject: advice
Hi Gino,
I wanted to ask what you think about a closed site I have been working on that has methane gas migration issues.
The site is World Enterprises, the SWIS is 39-AA-0035.
They are currently in violation for methane gas detected from a monitoring probe near the north property boundary.
We had asked them in a letter dated July 13, 2004 to submit a remediation plan for the site within 60 days.
We have not received a remediation plan, but instead we received a work plan to construct more monitoring probes.
The contractors (URS) state that they do not know the size of the methane plume and that remediation is premature.
At this point, I think that it would be ok for them to install the probes, but it appears as if they are trying to buy more time
when they should be working on remediation for the site.
If you have any good advice about how I can handle this situation, feel free to contact me(209-953-7698) or by email, I
appreciate any advice you can give, thanks.
Ted
i
