DECONTAMINATION PLAN-FORM 17 <br /> Personnel Decontamination <br /> Consistent with the levels of protection required,step-by-step procedures for personnel decontamination for each level of <br /> protection are attached. <br /> Levels of Protection Required for Decontamination Personnel <br /> The levels of protection required for personnel assisting with decontamination will be: <br /> ❑Level B ❑ Level C ®Level D <br /> Modifications include: None <br /> Disposition of Decontamination Wastes See SAP for decontaminationprocedures) <br /> Used PPE and disposable sampling equipment will be bagged in plastic trash bags and disposed of as municipal trash. <br /> Decontamination fluids and rinse-water generated during sampling will consist of deionized water,residual contaminants, <br /> and water with non-phosphate detergent. Decontamination fluids will be allowed to evaporate onsite. <br /> Equipment Decontamination <br /> Equipment will be decontaminated in accordance with the following procedure: <br /> All subsurface soil samples will be collected using direct-push technology equipped with a hardened steel soil sampler lined <br /> with a dedicated acetate liner attached to a hardened steel cutting shoe.The stainless steel cutting shoe will be <br /> decontaminated between each boring.The hardened steel soil sampler barrel will be decontaminated between each boring. <br /> Equipment decontamination fluids and rinse-water generated during sampling will consist of deionized water,residual <br /> contaminants,and water with non-phosphate detergent. Decontamination fluids will be allowed to evaporate onsite. <br /> Sampling Equipment Decontamination <br /> All non-dedicated sampling devices(hand auger or sampling core)used will be decontaminated in accordance with EPA <br /> ERT SOP#2006 using the following procedures(EPA, 1994).The following,to be carried out in sequence,is an EPA <br /> Region 9-recommended procedure for the decontamination of sampling equipment: <br /> 1.Non phosphate detergent(e.g.,Alconox®)and distilled or de-ionized water wash,using a brush if necessary. <br /> 2.Triple rinse with distilled or de-ionized water. <br /> Equipment will be decontaminated in a pre-designated area on racks or plastic sheeting.Clean bulky equipment will be stored <br /> on plastic sheeting in uncontaminated areas. Cleaned small equipment will be stored in plastic bags. Materials to be stored <br /> more than a few hours will also be covered. <br /> 20 of 23 <br />
