MEMORANDUM
October 30, 1987
TO: PATRICK SAMSELL, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
FROM: JOHN CARLSON, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
SUBJECT: REQUEST OF COMMERCIAL SALVAGE TO TRANSFER CONTRACT TO
WASTE MANAGEMENT
With respect to appropriate zoning and need for discretionary
permits on the above referenced business, please be advised that
the property is zoned M-1, Light Industrial District, and that in
1961, Use Permit 97-61 was issued by the Planning Division to
allow a salvage operation, for paper only, on the area at the
northeast corner of Weber and "F" Street (Lots 11 thru 14 and 39
thru 50, Block 30, Fair Oaks North) .
Expansion of the business to include materials other than paper
or onto areas not previously covered by Use Permit would require
application for a new Use Permit.
Planning has had complaints in the past that the salvage opera-
tion was also using property on the south side of Weber Avenue.
This area is zoned C-M and does not allow a salvage business.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Frank
Alford, Senior Planner, Planning Division, at 8266 .
JOHN CARLSON, DIRECTOR
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
JC: sl
Diskette: MISC2
