Jennifer Frase [EH]
From: Jennifer Frase[EH]
Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 2:08 PM
To: 'Brendan Kenny'
Cc: Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: Photos from City of Escalon
Attachments: IMG_0771.JPG; IMG_0777.JPG; IMG_0772.JPG
Hi Brendan,
For reference, here's three good photos of the material determined to be sewage sludge at the CIA site at the
Escalon WWTP.
Also, my Program Coordinator, Robert McClellon, asked me to provide you with more information regarding the
illegal disposal of sewage sludge. On or about the time of the Site Investigation in March 2008, when we first
encountered the buried material, the WWTP Operator, John Welch, told us that the facility had been giving the
sewage sludge to farmers to spread in their fields, which is against our local ordinances. When asked specific
details, John could not provide any more information or documentation. To date, the City of.Escalon has not
provided us with any documentation for proper disposal of sewage sludge.
If we can provide you with additional information please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
Jenni Frase, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 E. Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
(209) 468-9966
3/16/2009
