Hazardous Waste Tank
System Integrity Report
For
HMT Inspection
The Kraft Heinz Company
Stockton CA February 17,2021
SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS (CONT'D.)
ABOVEGROUND USED HAZARDOUS WASTE AND FACILITY (CONT'D.):
SECONDARY CONTAINMENT EVALUATION (Hazardous Waste Tank Facility): The
5,800-gallon Hazardous Waste Tank rests within a secondary 6,200-gallon polyethylene
open-top tank situated in a concrete tertiary containment area. The secondary tank has
a thickness of 0.493 inch (measured with a caliper). No records indicating the original
nominal thickness were available for comparison. The secondary tank has sufficient
capacity for the total volume of the primary tank. The secondary tank has a
manufactured heavy-duty tarp cover installed that is designed to prevent rainwater
entering into the interstitial space. These details meet the requirements for secondary
containment per EPA regulations for the maximum 72-hour clean-up period for spills and
meets DTSC requirements for secondary containment per 22 CCR, §66265.193. This
tank is situated outside but has a protective cover installed, and as such, is not
necessarily subject to rainfall or other run-off accumulation per the EPA 25-year, 24-hour
maximum rainfall / runoff accumulation requirement for the containment area.
The wash tanks are situated under an awning, thereby having only partial exposure to
the weather. Rainwater and any possible leakage or spillage from the wash tanks or
piping flow to a slot drain beneath the tanks and empty into the concrete containment
area. The concrete containment area has an approximate capacity of 6,449 gallons.
Since the wash tanks and piping flow to a secondary containment structure open to the
atmosphere, the concrete containment is subject to rainfall or other run-off accumulation
per the EPA 25-year, 24-hour maximum rainfall / run-off accumulation requirement for
the containment area at 3.35 inches of water. The secondary containment structure is
suitably large enough to contain the volume of these tanks and maximum rainfall
requirement (3,236 gallons in this case).
NDTRPTNE.DOT REV 2 23264941 Hazardous Wast Tank r3(Rev 1).doc 3/16/2021 1:52 PM
