Annual
rangeland with scattered oaks and associated seasonal wetlands make up
the remainder of the land not utilized by the actual poultry operation
(Figure 3). The woody block consists of rows of trees and shrubs such as
cottonwood (Populus fremontil), button willow (Cephalanthus occidentalis),
narrow -leaved willow (Salix exigua), coyote bush (Baccharis pilularis), and
Himalayan blackberry (Rubis discolor) that are completely encased with a soil
berm around it. This woody block holds excess rain run-off water from
Honen's 7 through 10 and the processing plant. The trees and shrubs utilize
the water captured in this basin. The property is bound on the north by
KRC Aggregate and annual rangeland, on the east and west by annual
rangeland, on the south by Brandt Road and more annual rangeland. There
are a few ranchette homes within some of the annual range sites. The
Mokelumne Aqueduct is piped and runs through the site from northeast to
southwest. Elevations at the site are approximately 250 to 350 feet above
sea level. The average annual precipitation consists of approximately 17
inches per year.
