This was a previous Area of Concern on the May and September
2006 inspection reports. These records demonstrate how often the facility produces 5,000 cubic yards of compost. The
compost must be tested for metals, fecal Coliform and Salmonella for every 5,000 cubic yards of compost produced.
Record the amount of chicken manure and wood shavings added to the compost windrow and the finished compost
produced, in cubic yards. Record this information once a month. Keep these records available for review by the EHD.
3) Note— The facility sampled the finished compost on June 14, 2006 and had laboratory testing completed by FGL
Environmental. The fecal Coliform, Salmonella and metals results satisfy the requirements listed in T14 CCR 17868.
Laboratory testing must be done once for every 5,000 cubic yards of finished compost produced.
4) Note — The facility is taking temperatures of the windrow every day and keeping a written record. The windrow is turned daily.
5) Note - Temperatures were measured at the 20, 70, 120, 170 and 220 feet locations along the windrow. The windrow
reached the pathogen reduction temperature of 131 °F or greater at the 20, 70, 120, 170 feet locations.
