HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN <br />PILKINGTON NORTH AMERICA— LATROP FACILITY <br />500 East Louise Avenue, Lathrop, CA <br />contact can result in second- and third-degree chemical burns. Contact of PCE vapors <br />above 75 ppm with the eyes will result in irritation, redness, and pain. <br />The additional potential hazards include: Slip -trip -fall hazards, noise, heavy equipment <br />(i.e., mobile drill rig), vibration hazards, traffic hazards, etc. <br />Based on evaluation of potential hazards, the following levels of personal protection <br />have been designated for the applicable work areas or task: <br />Location <br />Job Function <br />Level of Protection <br />Exclusion Zone <br />Excacvate, decontaminate <br />A B C D Other <br />UST, replace soils <br />Reduction Zone <br />Collect Samples, Log <br />A B C D Other <br />samples <br />Support Zone <br />Support Functions <br />A B C D Other <br />Level D <br />• hard hat <br />• steel -toed boots <br />• half -faced respirator (if necessary) <br />• gloves <br />• safety glasses <br />If air purifying respirators are authorized, organic vapor and dust is the appropriate <br />canister for use with the involved substances and concentrations. No down -grading <br />changes of the specified levels of protection shall be made without the approval of the <br />site safety officer and the project team leader. <br />6.0.
