4 9/24/2008 3:24 ROM: Fax Valley Organics, Inc. TO: 464-0138 : 006 OF 006
aA
V. Site Details and Contingency Plans
1. Fire Prevention
Temperature monitoring — daily use of a thermometer probe
Fire prevention measures — daily temperature monitoring
Fire district will have access to a 20 HP ag well
Company employees have an on-site portable water tank
A future 2 -inch main water line will be run to the processing area
2. Water supply
Water for material processing and fire control will be drawn from the on-site well.
3. Utility service interruption
While the site does have infrequent loss of electrical service, power is usually restored
quickly. In the event of a sustained loss of electrical service, portable generators can
be rented locally to provide temporary power for the office and scale. Mobile
equipment is powered by gasoline or diesel engines, and would not be affected.
Equipment — listing and contingency plan
Processing and handling equipment will consist of
a. Front-end loader to sort and handle incoming greenwaste.
b. Horizontal grinder to grind raw material.
c. Compost turner to turn compost and add moisture as needed
d. Trammel screen to sort composted material by size
e. Front-end loader to load finished material into delivery vehicles
In the event of equipment failure, repairs can be handled by the local distributor. If
repairs cannot be effected immediately, subcontractors can be hired, or equipment
rented to replace the affected equipment. If the site is unable to receive and/or
process incoming material, shipments can be diverted to alternative facilities.
4. Personnel
During operation hours, two to three people will be on-site to receive and process
greenwaste and load finished material for sale. All on-site personnel will be trained
in any procedures they will be required to perform.
5. Load enclosure
Vehicles transporting feedstock to the site or finished material from the site are
required to be tarped. Customers deliver material in bags, tarps or covered trucks.
Company employees delivered finished material in trucks with attached tarping
assemblies which are easily deployed after loading. The weighmaster will be trained
to inform anyone using the facility of regulations regarding covering loads.
6. Hours of operation and emergency contact numbers are displayed at the entrance to
the site.
Revised September 25, 2008
