These tanks are located at the Shell Trading and Supply Terminal in Stockton, Ca. At the
time of this inspection, API 653 inspection standard was utilized for inspection purposes. It should be
noted that the data and inspection techniques, Visual (VT) inspection and Ultrasonic (UT) inspection of
these tanks to meet API 653 current standard could be utilized to meet STI SP001 requirements for
these tanks and no additional information or inspection methods would be required. The inspector
(David Udosen) at the time of the inspection held certifications in API 653 and STI standards.
Based on tank configuration and STI SP001 Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground Storage
Tank, these tanks would be a Category 1 per (STI Table 5.5). The inspection intervals given in the API
653 Inspection reports for these tanks can be voided. The inspection intervals outlined in STI Table
5.5 should followed.
Raymond Beutler
West Coast Regional Manager
Inspection Division
API 653, AN 570, API 510 Certified
®®®®
FULL SERVICE TANK SUPPORT
