Thus far, the operator takes the <br />temperature reading of the window 2 times per week and turns the windrow the day before the temperature reading is taken. <br />1. Ensure that the active compost shall be maintained under aerobic conditions at a temperature of 55 degrees Celsius (131 degrees <br />Fahrenheit) or higher for a pathogen reduction period of 15 days or longer. During the period when the compost is maintained at 55 degrees <br />Celsius or higher, there shall be a minimum of five (5) turnings of the windrow. <br />2. Maintain temperature and windrow turning record and make available for inspection. <br />X <br />17868.3(d) - Temperature Monitoring <br />Comments: Currently, the operator takes the temperature reading 2 times per week. Per record, the last 2 temperature reading were taken <br />on 6/06/09 and 6/16/09. <br />1. Each day during the pathogen reduction period, at least one temperature reading shall be taken per every 150 feet of windrow, or fraction <br />thereof, or for every 200 cubic -yards of active compost, or fraction thereof. <br />1 <br />12. Maintain the temperature and turning record and make available for inspection. <br />Inspection <br />Report Comments: <br />1. The temperature of the windrow were as following: 4A= 142 F, 48= 131 F, 5A= 148 F, ground green waste= 104F and green waste= 96 F. <br />2. Approximately 100 yd of tailing, the remain after composting, is stockpiled near the fence. According to the operator, it will be ground and put back <br />into the composting windrow. <br />3. Per operator, the sample was taken last month. The result is not yet available. <br />
