The operator shall record any special occurences encountered during operation and methods used to <br /> resolve problems arising from these events. <br /> 2. The Special Occurences log must be filled out the same day as the incident occcured. <br /> 3. Complete the Special Occurences log and submit a copy to the Environmental Health Department(EHD). <br /> Inspection Report Comments: <br /> A compost inspection was performed on this date and the following was noted: <br /> 1. The feedstock caught on fire on 1/10/11 at approximately 6:30 am. According to the operator, Jed <br /> Phelps, the fire department was contacted, arrived on site, and stayed until 9:00 pm. <br /> 2. During the inspection the feedstock pile(still slightly smoldering)was being moved and separated <br /> into individual piles in order to lower the temperature. <br /> 3. The temperature range of the smoldering feedstock pile was 170 F- 184 F. <br /> 4. Records showing the daily temperatures of the feedstock were analyzed. The temperature range was <br /> 112 F-124 F. <br /> 5. It is recommended, in order to prevent future fires,that the feedstock pile is kept to a smaller <br /> volume by maintaing multiple piles. It is also recommended that multiple temperatures at varying <br /> heights be taken for the feedstock pile(s). Further incidents of fire may lead to these <br /> recommendations becoming requirements. Further incidents of fire may also lead to other <br /> requirements by the EHD. <br />
