November 30,2007
NOA Project Number: E07192A
4.2 Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
Identifying potential ground-water contamination sources was not part of the scope of work for the /
soil suitability study. Potential ground-water contamination can occur from a number of sources
which often include leaky underground storage tanks, agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems
and storm water infiltration.Agricultural activities and the use of septic systems in the area should
be considered potential ground-water contamination sources.
4.3 Water Sample Location
N permits were found for the proposed project parce. No wat r wells exist on s e. No w ter /
s ple was taken.
f v
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
The Site is depicted on the California Geological Survey Geologic Map of Cenozoic Deposits of the San
Francisco-San Jose Quadrangle(1991) as within the Quarternary Modesto Formation. The Modesto
Formation consists of Arkosic alluvium forming Mokelumne River terraces and alluvial fan;chiefly
sand with minor gravel and silt;probably glacial outwash (Plate 7).
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Survey
to be composed of Honcut sandy loam,Manteca fine sandy loam,Tinnin loamy coarse sand and
Veritas, all 0-2% slopes (Plate 8) (USDA, 1992). Table 3 presents some selected properties of these
soils:
Table 3.
San Joaquin County Soil Survcy
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
Soil Name Depth Salim Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map P mmhos/cm Unified Soil Classification Reaction ability absorption
Symbol (in) pH (in/hr) fields
Honcut 0-21: Sandy loam;SM <2 6.1-7.3 2.0-6.0 Slight
sandy loam, 21-60: Coarse sandy loam,sandy loam; <2 6.1-7.8 2.0-6.0
0-2% SM
slopes,175.
Manteca 0-11 Fine sandy loam;SM <2 7.4-8.4 2.0-6.0 Severe:
fine sandy 11-24 Sine sandy loam,loam,sandy <2 7.4-8.4 .6-2.0 cemented
loam,0-2 loam;SM,SC-SM pan
%slopes, 24-35 Indurated <2 --- ---
196 35-54 Cemented <2 --- ---
54-74 Stratified loamy sand to loam; <2 -.F 5.4 2.0-6.0
SM
5
