fo 0 <br /> x 17867(a)(13)- Physical Contamination Prevented or Removed <br /> Comments: There were pieces of glass observed throughout the windrows. This issue was most prevalent in the <br /> following windrows: #33-36. The ends of these windrows had a significant quantity of glass. Operator was <br /> instructed4o immediately move out these ends from the windrows and have the compost disposed. Operator <br /> was also instructed to contact the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department once the ends were <br /> removed from the windrows and properly disposed (so a site visit could be conducted and it could be verified that <br /> the ends were removed from the site). <br /> A. The operator shall prevent or remove physical contaminants in compost that may cause injury to humans. <br /> B. Operator was reminded that current regulation (Title 14 CCR, Section 17868.5)states that physical <br /> contaminants cannot be greater than 1%of the total weight. Also,future regulations will state that the physical <br /> contaminants cannot be greater than 0.5%of the total weight. <br /> C. Maintain documentation that the compost with glass was disposed. <br /> fnspecrion Report Connments <br /> Routine monthly inspection conducted on this date and the following was noted: <br /> 1. There were no tires observed in the Waste Management disposal bin. Facility is now keeping all waste tires <br /> in a designated area. <br /> 2. The analysis results for the metal concentration, fecal coliform density, and Salmonella density of the <br /> compost product was available for review. The compost met the state standards. <br /> 3. All records were available for review. <br /> 4. The odor and fly population was light. Dust was minimal. <br /> 5. No offsite litter was observed. <br /> 6. The temperature of the greenwaste and ground material was 82 F and 92 F respectively. The temperature <br /> range of the windrows was 110 F to 130 F. The temperature of the overs and hogfuel was 104 F and 114 F <br /> respectively. The temperature of the pre-screened product and the screened product was 94 F and 158 F <br /> respectively. <br />
