The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road approximately five miles
south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting
waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas
monitoring wells was installed by SCS Engineers (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on October 25, 1999. The results of the monitoring
are shown on the table below. The County used the Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction
Monitoring instrument. This instrument was calibrated by the manufacturer prior to the sampling
event. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and
nitrogen (balance gas) concentrations.
Date: 10/25/99
Sampler: Michael Kalish
Code Date CH4 CO2 02 Bal Pressure
CHISHALL 10/25/99 0.2 1.8 19.6 78.4 0
CHIINT 10/25/99 20.3 30.9 0.5 48.3 0
CHIDEEP 10/25/99 40.7 32.9 1.1 25.3 0
CH2SHALL 10/25/99 50.9 33.5 0.1 15.5 0
CH21NT 10/25/99 53.8 38.8 1.1 6.3 0
CH2DEEP 10/25/99 48.1 39 0 12.9 0
CH3SHALL 10/25/99 31.3 30.3 0 38.4 0
CH31NT 10/25/99 29.7 34.6 0 35.7 0
CH3DEEP 10/25/99 16.1 29.8 0 54.1 0
CH4SHALL 10/25/99 0 0.2 20 79.8 0
CH41NT 10/25/99 0 0 20.6 79.4 0
CH4DEEP 10/25/99 0 0 20.8 79.2 0.1
CH5 SHALL 10/25/99 0 3.7 18 78.3 0
CH51NT 10/25/99 0 6.4 15.7 77.9 0
CHSDEEP 10/25/99 0 11.4 13.2 75.4 0
CH6SHALL 10/25/99 0 4.9 12.6 82.5 0
CH61NT 10/25/99 14.1 17.7 0.3 67.9 0
CH6DEEP 10/25/99 32.3 32.1 4.2 31.4 -0.4
CH7SHALL 10/25/99 0 0.7 19.9 79.4 0
CH71NT 10/25/99 0 0.1 20.4 79.5 0
1
