The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road approximately five miles
south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting
waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas
monitoring wells was installed by SCS Engineers (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on January 7, 2000. The results of the monitoring
are shown on the table below. The County used the Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction
Monitoring instrument. This instrument was calibrated by the manufacturer prior to the sampling
event. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and
nitrogen(balance gas) concentrations.
Date: 01/07/00
Sampler: Michael Kalish
Code Date CH4 CO2 02 Bal Pressure
CH 1 SHALL 01/07/00 0.2 1.3 19.4 79.1 0
CHANT 01/07/00 17.8 29.7 1.2 51.3 0
CH 1 DEEP 01/07/00 38.2 31.9 0.3 29.6 0
CH2SHALL 01/07/00 42.7 27.7 3.1 26.5 0
CH21NT 01/07/00 48.3 38.4 0.6 12.7 0
CH2DEEP 01/07/00 34.2 35.1 0 30.7 0
CH3SHALL 01/07/00 30.5 30.6 0 38.9 0
CH31NT 01/07/00 30.6 35.7 0 33.7 0
CH3DEEP 01/07/00 14.4 30 0 55.6 0
CH4SHALL 01/07/00 0 0.2 20.1 79.7 0
CH41NT 01/07/00 0 0 20 80 0.3
CH4DEEP 01/07/00 0 0 20.6 79.4 0.1
CHSSHALL 01/07/00 0 2.4 19.1 78.5 0
CH51NT 01/07/00 0 5.2 17.5 77.3 0
CHSDEEP 01/07/00 0 13.5 13.6 72.9 0.2
CH6SHALL 01/07/00 0 2.7 13.4 83.9 0.1
CH61NT 01/07/00 17.7 22.7 0.2 59.4 0.2
CH6DEEP 01/07/00 52.8 47.2 0 0 0.2
CH7SHALL 01/07/00 0.3 1 19 79.7 0.1
CH71NT 01/07/00 0.1 5 3.9 91 0.1
1
