The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road approximately five miles south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas monitoring wells was installed by SCS Engineers (Figure 2). The seven wells were monitored for methane on April 19, 2000. The results of the monitoring are shown on the table below. The County used the Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitoring instrument. This instrument was calibrated by the manufacturer prior to the sampling event. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen(balance gas) concentrations.
