The
SWD and IT/EMCON believe that landfill gas is the source of the VOCs. This
evaluation was conducted consistent with the SWD Revised Workplan and comments
presented in your letter dated May 8, 2000. The scope of work included the following
tasks:
• Drilling of three exploratory borings to evaluate the extent of shallow VOC
impacted groundwater
• Collection and analysis of a groundwater sample from shallow zone monitoring
well MW-5 concurrent with drilling activities
• Collection and analysis of landfill gas samples from gas probes GW-1, GW-2, and
GW-3 concurrent with drilling activities
• Collection of shallow monitoring well water levels within 72 hours of completing
drilling activities
Detailed descriptions of the activities conducted for each task and the results of each task
are presented in the following sections.
EXPLORATORY BORINGS
Three exploratory borings B-1, B-2, and B-3 were drilled at the locations shown on
Figure 1 to evaluate the extent of VOC impacted shallow perched groundwater.
R n
SAC:\N:\Consulting\data\Shared\Projects\PJ8\809251.aa.doc-00\ta:l
809251
