We appreciate your visit to Store #1143 and
your feedback on Ulta Beauty's hazardous waste program. Compliance with local, state and federal
hazardous waste regulations is a top priority for Ulta Beauty. Set forth below are the corrective actions
taken by Ulta Beauty in response to the issues raised in your inspection report for Store #1143.
I. Item 102. CCR 66262.11 Failed to determine if a waste is a hazardous waste
No corrective action is required. We have discussed the method of Barbicide and Ship Shape disposal
with other CUPAs who have not objected to the current disposal practice. In our last discussion on this
topic, we were informed by the Santa Clara CUPA (Inspector Molly Pritz) that Barbicide and Ship
Shape can be poured down the drain as long as salon associates diluted the solutions with water in
accordance with the manufacturer's directions on the product labels. This is the normal industry
standard disposal process for Barbicide and Ship Shape followed by beauty and hair salons across the
State of California.
II. Item 106. CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and
emergency procedures
All Ulta Beauty managers receive training on waste handling and emergency procedures during on -
boarding and throughout the year. Following this inspection, the General Manager at Store #1143
received supplemental training by the Luta Beauty's corporate Environmental Health & Safety team on
waste handling and emergency procedures (with emphasis placed on the specific findings from your
inspection) and ail other managers at Store #1143 have now been re-trained by the General Manager
through chat -in sessions (see attached).
theoNjjlt' are beautiful.
