In accordance to 22 CCR 66261.6(a)(3)(B), scrap metal
as defined in 22 CCR 66260.10, is exempted from regulation under State law when recycled.
Additionally a link is included to a City and County of San Francisco Department of Health Hazardous
Waste FAQ. On page 4 of the document it states that, “Metal workings, cuttings, shavings or grindings
with a diameter of more than 100 microns (about the diameter of a human hair) are considered to be
scrap metal and are not hazardous waste.” As the metal fines are recycled, it is not a hazardous waste.
If there are alternative methods you’d like us to use in regards to the metal fines, please let me know.
https://www.sfdph.org/dph/files/EHSdocs/ehsHMUPAdocs/HazardousWasteFAQ.pdf

#301 – The oily waste was placed in a metal drum and labeled to be disposed of as hazardous waste.
