H2 0GEOL o
A GROUND WATER CONSULTANCY
Mr. Harlan Knoll, R.E.H.S.
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 E. B. Construction, Inc. for the former Donna Gardner Property, located at
26056/26080 North Thornton Road in Thornton. The site location is shown on Figure 1.
Diagrammatic site area features and former features and the locations of the monitoring
wells are shown in Figure 2.
The October 17, 2005 San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department work plan
request letter directed that quarterly groundwater monitoring resume sampling all
monitoring wells and Thornton Municipal Supply Well No. 2. This revised quarterly
monitoring program will commence with the First Quarter 2006 groundwater monitoring
event.
The quarterly groundwater samples, and all samples collected during implementation of
this work plan, will be analyzed by U.S. E.P.A. Method 8260B that includes Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the gasoline range (TPH-g); the volatile aromatic
hydrocarbon compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers); the
fuel oxygenates: tertiary -Butyl alcohol (TBA); Methyl tertiary -butyl ether (MtBE); Di -
isopropyl Ether (DIPE); Ethyl tertiary -butyl ether (EtBE); and tertiary -Amyl methyl ether
(TAME) and the scavengers ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-Dichloroethane (DCA).
All required information will be uploaded to Geotracker as it becomes available.
Specifically, the October 17, 2005 San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department letter indicated that
The work proposed should complete the investigation of the lateral and vertical extent of the
soil and groundwater contamination so that the mass of contamination remaining can be
calculated and evaluated. The work should also include an evaluation for performing
groundwater extraction from monitoring wells MW3 and MW4, and address disposal options
for any extracted groundwater.
P. O.
