Former Gardner Propert,' 2 5 December 2007
26056 N Thornton Rd., ornton
The request for a reduction in analyses to TPHg and BTEX is approved, commencing
with the calendar year 2008 and continuing until further notice.
2 However, the data show that natural attenuation is not an effective remediation at this
site. Residual petroleum hydrocarbons continue to impact groundwater near Well 2
twelve years after corrective action (overexcavation). As such, a more aggressive
remedial approach, which does not upset the sensitive balance between the aquifer
and Well 2, is required to reach Water Quality Objectives in a reasonable period of
time. Please review the 1997 Problem Assessment Report, and provide a technical
reevaluation of the approved proposal for a Soil Vapor Extraction/Air Sparging pilot
study (which was not implemented), and evaluate potential additional technologies for
at least two remedial options in a Remedial Investigation report due 1 February 2008.
The report will provide recommendations for a Feasibility Study of the selected remedial
option, and a schedule for implementation of Corrective Action.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 464-4615 or email me at
jbartonwaterboards.ca.qov.
James L.
