Scotts Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject: Feasibility Study and Completion of the Groundwater Investigation at
26456/26080 Thornton Road, Thornton, CA
Dear Mr. Rail:
This correspondence has been prepared by ATC Associates Inc., on behalf of Ms. Donna
Gardner, to serve as a request for information in reference to Thornton Municipal Well #2
(the Supply Well). During the December 8, 1997 project meeting at the above referenced
site, it was concluded that additional information would be obtained and evaluated prior to
the installation of a permanent groundwater monitoring point at depths greater than 70
feet below ground surface (bgs), the reported depth of the Supply Well's annular seal.
Therefore, to meet the request of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), ATC requests historical pump test results
which have been performed on the Supply Well and/or that will be performed as part of
the site's investigation. Based in part on this data, ATC will further evaluate the site's
vertical contaminant migration topic and evaluate alternative methods to define the site's
deeper lithology which is needed to assist in the installation of a deeper monitoring well.
Additionally, PHS/EHD has requested that the total depth of the Supply Well be measured
since it has been reported that the well was drilled to total depth 420 feet bgs, but only
cased to 245 feet. ATC would greatly apprieate your agency's assistance in obtaining this
well measurement data.
