PUBLIe HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M.D., M.P.H., Acting Health Officer
445 N. San Joaquin Street • P. 0. Box 388 • Stockton, CA 95201-0388 ,
\N1 1.1
209/468-3420
.—

DEC 2 0 1994
DONNA SANTINI GARDNER
1206 STRUCK
ORANGE CA 92667
RE: Donna Gardner Property
Site Code: 1864
26056 Thornton Road
Thornton CA 95686
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the December 8, 1994 "Groundwater Monitoring Report, July through
September 1994" prepared by RESNA. PHS/EHD has prepared the following comments
for your consideration.
As PHS/EHD indicated in correspondence dated July 7, 1994, the excavation of
contaminated soil should have been initiated by July 22, 1994 as directed in PHS/EHD
correspondence dated December 27, 1993. To date this excavation has not been
scheduled. PHS/EHD must be contacted by January 10, 1995 to schedule the excavation
to retain your compliance status.
The quarterly report submitted included the results of the September 16, 1994 sampling
event. Table 2 summarized the analytical results from the samples collected. The table
indicated that benzene was not detected in MW3 or MW4. The laboratory report
indicated that the detection limits for the analysis of those samples were significantly
elevated. Please note that when detection limits are elevated it should be noted on the
tables summarizing the results because these tables become part of the historical record
for the site. The next quarterly report submitted should include the detection limits on
all entries designated ND (non-detect).
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Mary Meays at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M. inson, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
MM\26056TH0R
c: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley RWQCB
c: John Lane, RESNA
c: Al Hoslett, Wilson, Hoslett and Whitridge
c: Ron Rall, San Joaquin County Utilities Maintenance Districts
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
