Additional information was provided during the January
31, 1992 telecommunication with John Lane of RESNA. PHS/EHD
comments follow.
Regional groundwater flow is to the north, generally towards
the Mokelumne River which is approximately 1/2 mile
northeast of the above referenced site. Several industrial
wells have been located within 1/2 mile radius of the site.
Please provide information regarding the use and
construction of these wells. These wells may have an effect
on the gradient resulting in the movement of contamination
as referenced by monitoring well MW-4, a currently
upgradient well. Please provide this information in the
next quarterly report due April 15, 1992.
Continue investigating the possibility of another source of
contamination. Historic aerial photographs may be helpful.
Submit information with quarterly reports as it becomes
available.
An intermediate well, between MW-3 and MW-4, may aid in the
delineation of the soil and/or groundwater contamination.
An additional well north of the municipal supply well may be
necessary to define the northern boundary of contamination.
Re-excavation is an effective method to remove contaminated
soil eliminating a source of contamination to groundwater.
Please evaluate this interim remedial alternative to address
soil contamination.
Submit a workplan for the additional investigation of soil and
groundwater contamination by May 29, 1992.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
