Mr. Todd Del Frate -2-
INSTALLATION OF NEW LANDFILL GAS EXTRACTION WELLS AT
CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL
2. Lateral Trench of EW-40, EW-41 and EW-42 LFG Extraction Wells
The laterals for LFG extraction wells EW-40, EW-41, and EW-42 were partially
installed in the vegetative layer and in a deeper trench penetrating the barrier layer at
the toe of the landfill's slope. The laterals were installed in a deeper trench at the toe
of the landfill's slope to cross under the existing drainage ditch and connect to the well
heads (Photo 2 and Figure 3).
The disturbed barrier layer in the lateral trench of EW-40, EW-41 and EW-42 LFG
extraction wells was restored by placing a minimum of four inches of bentonite at the
barrier layer elevation (Photo 4 and 5). Bentonite was also placed in the trenches
under the drainage ditch to minimize infiltration.
3. LFG Extraction Well Supplemental Collection Points
All new LFG extraction well laterals included a supplemental collection point extending
two feet into refuse. Four inches of bentonite was placed at the barrier layer elevation
in the trench of all wells supplemental collection point (Photo 6).
Well Operational Status
The new LFG extraction wells are currently under 0.25 inches water column vacuum from the
LFG collection system. Vacuum on the new LFG extraction wells will be increased based on
future ground water data.
I certify under penalty of law that I have personally examined and I am familiar with the
information submitted in this document and all attachments and that, based on my inquiry of
those individuals immediately responsible for obtaining the information, I believe that the
information is true, accurate, and complete. If you have any questions, or if you wish further
information, please call me at (209) 468-8504.
Sincerely,
816
W.
