Phase 11 Environmental site Assessment Workplan
324 East 1 l th Street,Tracy,CA
June 20,2013
samples will be analyzed for: MTBE, tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tert-butyl alcohol (TBA),
diisopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), methanol, ethanol; and lead scavengers
1,2-dichloroethane(DCA)and 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB) by EPA Method 8260. To facilitate soil
disposal, one composite soil sample will be analyzed for total lead by EPA Method 6010.
Task 3 —Contingent Soil and Groundwater Sampling (if Merited)
If significant contamination is observed during initial soil borings, Pangea plans to perform up to
five step-out soil borings in an approximate radial formation as shown on Figure 1. Additionally,
Pangea will install one to two of the borings to a deeper depth to provide vertical delineation. The
contingent soil and groundwater sampling will be performed following procedures described
above. To faciliate sampling of deeper soil and groundwater, dual-tube direct push sampling
equipment may be used. A discrete-depth sampling device may also be used to sample deeper
groundwater. Prior to performing this additional contingent investigation, Pangea will discuss
initial sampling results with the property owner and other parties as directed by the property
owner and in accordance with permit conditions.
Task 4—Waste Management and Disposal
Soil cuttings, decontamination water, and other investigation-derived waste will be stored onsite
in Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums. The drums and their contents
will be held onsite pending laboratory analytical results. Upon receipt of the analytical report, the
waste will be transported to an appropriate disposal/recycling facility.
Task 5— Phase II ESA Report Preparation
Upon receipt of analytical data, Pangea will prepare a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
Report. The report will describe field activities, present analytical results, and include a site
figure showing sampling locations. Pangea understands that the SJEH requires reporting of any
hydrocarbon impact detected by the permitted borings.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at(510)435-8664.
Sincerely,
PANGEA Environmental Services, Inc.
