Provide 3 to 10 ppm. Tested 3rd time
after further draining; 10 ppm free chlorine. Jacuzzi may stay opened.
CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain
the following concentrations., 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid
or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free
chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529)
#13 Cyanuric Acid Concentration
OBSERVATIONS: CYA >100. Reduce to below 100 ppm. This is a repeat violation.
CALCODE DESCRIPTION.: Pool operator shall maintain cyanuric acid concentration between 0.0 ppm and 100 ppm. (CCR 65530)
#14 Chemical Water Test Kit
OBSERVATIONS: Assistant manager demonstrated either he does not know how to use the test kit, or the chemical in the
test kit is questionable quality (he insisted on 3ppm free chlorine reading when I got 16 ppm initially and 14.2 ppm after
jacuzzi was drained and refilled). Ensure test kit is used correctly and properly (i.e. read the manual or ask for assistance at
local pool supply dealers), or obtain new test kit.
CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain a test kit for measuring the disinfectant residual, combined chlorine, pH, and
cyanuric acid (if used) at the pool. Test kit shall be available at all times the pool is in use. Chlorine and bromine test kits shall be DPD
type. Chlorine test kits shall be capable of testing for free and total chlorine, so that combined chlorine concentrations can be determined.
(CCR 65529)
#38 Filter Cleaning and Maintenance
OBSERVATIONS: Influent 22 psi and effluent 10 psi. Backflush or replace/ clean filter so difference between influent and
effluent is less than 10 psi. This is a repeat violation.
CALCODE DESCRIPTION: All filters shall be maintained in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. (CBC 31238) Pressure gauge
located on the filter shall be marked with the clean startup reading. (CBC 31258) Each filter vessel shall be provided with valves so that it
can be isolated from the recirculation system for repairs and backwashing.
