Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Wendy Cohen [CohenW@rb5s.swrcb ca.gov ]
Sent: Monday, November 24, 2003 12:35 PM
To: TRECONSULTING@comcast.net
Cc: CMPRGCEGCHG@aol.com; Albert.Garnier@metsteco.com; Chall@metsteco.com;
LeitGistrand@metsteco.com; Norman.Hauser@metsteco.com; Ton Vorster; Mike Infurna
[EH]; Margaret Lagorio [EH]
Subject: Re: Closure Status of Monitoring Wells (MW-1-4)forMetropolitan Stevedore Company
Just to clarify, this is not a policy shift or change of mind/approach.
My previous email said I thought if the Port was OK with abandoning the
wells that would be OK with me. I've now had a chance to consult with
my higher ups, and it is not acceptable to management for the reasons I
gave in my email. I do not set policy. I also have left 2 messages for
the Port's Environmental Manager, but have not heard back from him. Why
must the wells be abandoned?
>» <TRECONSULTING@comcast.net> 11/24/03 10:29AM >>>
Hi Wendy:
Hope all is well. I am having e-mail problems here in snowy Ann Arbor
Michigan. As I mentioned in my earlier e-mail I will be back to CA on
December 3, 03.
It seems like my last e-mail response was returned. Anyhow, hope you
get this response. In light of your discussions with Ton and the
resulting policy shift and change of mind/approach expressed in your
e-mail, I would have to relay this message to my client Metropolitan
Stevedore Company (MSC) for discussions and determining the next course
of action.
On behalf of MSC, however, I believe that your policy shift and change
of mind/approach merits a face to face meeting so we can gain clarity of
what prompted your shift and change with respect to the closure of these
monitoring wells.
I will get back to you when I have had an opportunity to discuss the
foregoing with MSC's management.
Best Regards
From Ann Arbor Michigan
Jay R. We do not want the monitoring wells abandoned at
all.
Since there has been a significant increase in sulfate over the past
decade, a future investigation and cleanup may be necessary, so the
wells should stay in place. This week, I left another message for
the
Port's environmental manager to discuss this, but I have not yet
heard
•
1
