Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Ms. Hinson:
Thank you for the opportunity to review the draft
letter to the community in the vicinity of our
property at 4648 E. Waterloo Road. After consultation
with our attorney, I would like to make the following
suggested revisions of the second paragraph. I have
typed out our proposed form of this paragraph at the
end of this letter. The first change deletes an
inaccurate idenfication of our property. "Marlowe
Business Park" is a title created by someone in your
department but is not the name that we use. Our sign
says S.W.I.C. for the Stockton Warehousing and
Industrial Center. However, we believe that
identification of the site of the UST investigation by
street address should be sufficient. The second
change involves an addition of the other two sites at
which chlorinated hydrocarbons have been identified.
This seems an appropriate and logical addition since
it conveys the outcome to date of the well survey that
you indicate has been conducted. It also further
clarifys the uncertain origin and extent of the
contamination about which your division is cautioning
the community.
We hope that these minor changes will meet with your
approval. We feel that they promote accuracy and
fairness in conveying this sensitive information to
the community.
"PHS/EHD is overseeing the investigation of the former
underground storage tank (UST) located at 4648 E.
Waterloo Road. During the course of groundwater
monitoring, the above organic compounds unrelated to
the UST investigation were detected in the public
water supply serving this property. PHS/EHD with the
cooperation of the various neighboring residences and
businesses, conducted a well survey identifying
private water sources within a specified geographical
range and/or radius. Chlorinated hydrocarbons have
been identified in two private wells in the immediate
area at 4716 E. Waterloo Road and 2817 Cherryland."
Sincerely yours,
al7
Jonathan Marlowe
